SPOT LIGHT (TRUE FOLLOWER)
I’ve been spending some time now trying to describe how can we really tell if we are a God’s people. There are alot of question about the faith of a person. Many people will say they believe in GOD, the question is “do you follow GOD?”. I will give you an image using a theater house to describe our character areas. I don’t give you a full claim about the idea i’m using for illustration, this is base from the inspiration I got from different people I talked to and I will apply personal my personal thoughts as well.
Look at the picture at the top, imagine you are a performer, a soloist or an actor. Everyone is looking and they set their eyes at you giving impression to what you are going to do or who you are on the stage. This people as your audience know you base on what you will show them to identify you. Your audience here are your friends, workmates, acquaitances, relatives and all the people that can see you in public.
Now we step in to our outside world sometimes we have more than one character we play when we are on stage depending who is our viewer. If your claim that you are His follower you should know that there is only one person that is watching you, that is God. Since you have been changing your character from different people you’ve been with, does the God you are pleasing and honoring are changing? The claims should be back up with actions. If you are confident that you only have one character for God, He will be pleased and happy for you. :)
You believe God and you said you have faith in Him, how about when your off stage now? When you are at back stage of your life until you are in your dressing room is it still God whom you please and honor? The sad part is you might not be aware and is being justify in a wrong way.
The people in your backstage is your family. They might know you better, but sometimes other think that their family is the one who doesn’t know them. The faith you claim, do they know about it does it still show when your with them.
How about your dressing room or your private space where no one will see you. Are you still the same person who was on the stage that claims as a follower of GOD?
Jesus said "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’, and do not do what I say?"(Luke6:46) Being His follower demands obedience in all form whether your on stage or off stage. He even said in Revelation 3:16 "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth".
It is either 100% or 0%, it’s an all or nothing.
This is not a message of judging you of who you are. This is just a reminder to you for self assesment. I can relate so much to this topic, because before I tell people that I am Christian but doesn’t show like specially when I’m alone. It is really His grace that my eyes was opened. And there is someone who know you better and that is GOD Himself!!!
"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain." —Psalm 139:1-6
Taking it further: In your quiet time alone in your room, ask God deeply in your heart for Him to be one taking over your show and reveal to you what is hidden inside you.
John 15:1-7, Luke 6:46-49
